Assalaamu ‘alaikum – peace be with you.
Dignity is derived from the Latin words dignitas (merit) and dignus (worthy) and is defined as the state or quality of being honourable, noble and worthy of respect. It is an inherit value that all human beings have and are endowed with simply by virtue of the fact that they are human beings. However, despite its universal appeal and importance, it is a topic that rarely gets discussed even though it plays a crucial role in our understanding of ourselves and relationships with others. The protection of dignity is therefore fundamental to realising our true potential as human beings.
At Inspirited Minds we understand the importance of dignity especially when supporting or caring for someone as this is a time when people are at their most vulnerable. We pray we can all embed the aspect of dignity in all that we do; promoting, protecting and respecting an individual’s dignity; and pray that we have the strength and courage to recognise and value our noble nature. And as always, we are open to your comments, ideas, and suggestions, so please do get in touch by replying to this email.
Du’as always,
Talat
