Inspirited Minds works with some of the most disadvantaged and vulnerable people in our community and our team of volunteers are our lifeblood and we couldn’t be a lifeline without them. We are truly grateful for the work they do, they persevere, they are passionate and they strive to aid because they genuinely care. Our mission as a charity is to provide advice and support to those affected by mental health problems, raise awareness to reduce the stigma around mental health, especially within the Muslim community and to look at mental health and psychology from an Islamic perspective. Volunteering is an excellent way of taking your valuable lifeskills and experience and using them to benefit others in your local community. Advisory Board Member

Job Title: Advisory Board Member
Duration: Permanent with yearly review
Position: Voluntary
Purpose: The Advisory Board member will provide strategic advice, guidance, support and recommendations to the management of Inspirited Minds.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advice on determining the charity’s mission, goals, policies and programme of activities.
  • Provide advice on ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the charity.
  • Contribute to the establishment of the charity’s strategic direction and the monitoring of any strategic plans.
  • Minimise the risk associated with new ventures by providing insight and expertise.
  • Provide unbiased insights and ideas from a third point-of-view and support the exploration of new ideas.
  • Encourage the development of a governance framework that enable sustainable growth for the charity.
  • Provide a stronger link with the local community and identified target groups.
  • Help develop an understanding of trends within society and open doors or identify opportunities for the charity.
  • Serve as a mentor or coach to current management team members.
  • Increase the accountability of the reporting managers.
  • Respect the confidential nature of all information relating to the business of the charity in accordance with data protection policies.

Requirements

  • Attend a Board Meeting to evaluate the charity’s performance every 6 months in London.
  • Extensive knowledge, experience and expertise within their speciality and preferably within the Muslim Mental Health field.
  • Passionate to improve the Mental Health and Wellbeing of society and in particular of the Muslim community within the UK.
  • Good, independent judgement, strategic vision and the ability to think creatively.
  • Act with selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty, leadership; in adherence to our core values and in the best interest of the charity.

Counsellor

Job Title: Counsellor
Team: Support
Hours: 2-3 hours per week
Duration: Permanent
Purpose: The counsellor will provide counselling to clients to help them deal with difficult emotions and mental health issues.

Responsibilities

  • Support clients in developing skills in any aspect (social, personal) via a variety of communication methods.
  • Establishing a relationship of trust and respect with clients.
  • Agreeing a counselling contract to determine what will be covered in sessions.
  • Offer a short-term counselling service.
  • Actively listening to client concerns and empathising with their position, without bias.
  • Helping clients to make decisions and choices regarding possible ways forward.
  • Referring clients to other sources of help, as appropriate.
  • Attending supervision and training courses.
  • Working to agreed targets in relation to client contact, responding to clients with seven working days.
  • Maintaining high levels of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Keeping records and using reporting tools as sought by the organisation.

Required Skills

  • Registration with a professional body like the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) or UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
  • Abiding by the ethical framework for counselling.

Support Manager

Job Title: Support Manager

Purpose: The Support Manager will work with counsellors, clients and support workers to oversee and manage all cases Inspirited Minds receives ensuring all relevant procedures are followed.
Responsibilities

  • Oversee all client cases making sure all records are accurate and kept up to date.
  • Lead the development of a 3 Tier Support Service.
  • Advise and direct support workers who provide listening support to clients.
  • Liaise with counsellors to develop care plans for the clients’ best interest.
  • Support clients with the Support Team in developing skills in any aspect (social, personal) via a variety of communication methods.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to perform assessments or develop treatment plans.
  • Ensure all due diligence is carried out with regards to services provided to clients.
  • Conduct all tasks with regards to any and all relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism at all times.

Islamic Advisor

Job Title: Islamic Advisor

Purpose: The Islamic Advisor will provide guidance, support, Islamic advice and a specialist insight into Islam and Mental Health.

Responsibilities

  • Confirm and provide authentic and traditional references that we may use as a charity in line with our mission and values.
  • Prepared to assist in supporting the organisation for Islamic advice such as with clients we support; outreach events and workshops; communication articles and social media etc.
  • Ensure material we produce is according to the Qur’an and Sunnah in regards to Mental Health.
  • Identify opportunities where Islamic concepts, and resources could be used to better our message.
  • Ensure our identity is Islamic, and how best to improve or refine including highlighting our remit as an organisation.

Outreach Worker

Job Title: Outreach Worker

Purpose: The Outreach Worker will engage with members of the community to raise awareness about mental health, planning events, workshops and other activities.

Responsibilities

  • Offer educational presentations, workshops, programs, support groups and assistance to members of the community.
  • Act as an advocate where needed and provide information, advice and other support services to individuals and families affected by mental health problems.
  • Network and build partnerships with local and national organisations.
  • Communicate with outreach team members to plan events and workshops.
  • Write summaries on the outcomes of each project, highlighting improvements. These are to be discussed with outreach team members for guidance of future events and workshops.
  • Work with their line manager to achieve frequent, timely and positive outreach schemes.
