Inspirited Minds works with some of the most disadvantaged and vulnerable people in our community and our team of volunteers are our lifeblood and we couldn’t be a lifeline without them. We are truly grateful for the work they do, they persevere, they are passionate and they strive to aid because they genuinely care. Our mission as a charity is to provide advice and support to those affected by mental health problems, raise awareness to reduce the stigma around mental health, especially within the Muslim community and to look at mental health and psychology from an Islamic perspective. Volunteering is an excellent way of taking your valuable lifeskills and experience and using them to benefit others in your local community. Counsellor / CBT Therapist

Job Title: Counsellor / CBT Therapist
Team: Counselling and Support
Required Hours: To be able to take on at least 2 clients at one time (session times with clients can be arranged with individual clients)
Availability: Counsellors must attend quarterly IM team meetings (January, April, July and October, all are online, but we aim to have one face to face event per year), monthly group supervisions (which usually last up to 2 hours) and meetings with their manager at the agreed times

Purpose: The counsellor/CBT Therapist will provide mental health counselling support to clients that self-refer to our services via our website

Role Responsibilities

  • Performing therapy sessions in a controlled environment with clients
  • Using verbal interaction to explore behaviour, attitudes and emotions
  • Helping clients to understand and address their inner conflicts and reflect on issues to help them make positive changes

Counsellor / CBT Therapist / PWP

Job Title: Counsellor/CBT Therapist/PWP

Team: Counselling-Research project

Required Hours: To run support groups as part of a research project – 2 hours x 6 sessions

Availability: Must attend quarterly IM team meetings (January, April, July and October, all are online, but we aim to have one face to face event per year), monthly group supervisions (which usually last up to 2 hours) and meetings with their manager at the agreed times. Must also be able to travel to Birmingham or London.

Position: Paid

Location: Must be based in London, and able to travel to East London, mostly on weekends but may require travel on weekdays also.

Duration: Temporary for 1 year with a possibility to stay on to do client work

Start date: 1st of June (induction will be conducted prior)

Purpose: The counsellor/CBT Therapist/PWP will be running support groups for young women struggling with symptoms of low mood

Role Responsibilities

  • To conduct support groups in a controlled environment with clients
  • Attend training for the study and running of the intervention
  • Attend feedback session after conducting support groups
  • Use adapted materials based on Islamic psychology

Support Worker - University of Hertfordshire Research Study

Job Title: Support Worker (Birmingham based)

Team: Counselling

Required Hours: 7.5 hours per week. Required Travel to London.

Purpose: The Support Worker will support the Counselling Manager in a recently funded research project with clients referrals, developing Support Groups and ad-hoc tasks

Role Responsibilities

  • Liaise with clients who contact Inspirited Minds for the study
  • Assess new referrals for suitability for the study
  • Refer clients to external services when necessary
  • Provide feedback of progress and updates of clients to the Counselling and Support Manager
  • Support the development and delivery of our research project in collaboration with University of Hertfordshire
  • Support Counsellors with the delivery of our Support Groups service by planning and co-facilitating groups
  • Completing measures as apart of the study
  • Attending trainings inline with the study and Support Groups

Advisory Board Member

Job Title: Advisory Board Member
Duration: Permanent with a yearly review
Position: Voluntary
Purpose: The Advisory Board member will provide strategic advice, guidance, support and recommendations to the management of Inspirited Minds
Availability: Advisory Board members are expected to attend the Advisory Board Meeting held on the morning of the first Sunday of every quarter (January, April, July, and October). They are currently online but we aim to have some of these meetings in person every year. Members may also be asked for assistance in between meetings

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide advice on determining the charity’s mission, goals, policies and programme of activities
  • Provide advice on ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the charity
  • Contribute to the establishment of the charity’s strategic direction and the monitoring of any strategic plans

Fundraising Officer

Job Title: Fundraising Officer

  • Core hours must be worked which are between 11am – 3pm, 4 days a week (daily stand ups require attendance every day)

Purpose: The Fundraising and Grants Officer will support the manager in generating revenue for Inspirited Minds, organise events and challenges that will contribute to our mission, and develop projects which will sustain the organisation’s incoming funds planning events, campaigns and other activities

Role Responsibilities

  • Manage, develop and deliver comprehensive and coherent fundraising strategies to generate income for the charity
  • Set and achieve realistic time-limited fundraising targets, agreed in consultation with key staff
  • Work efficiently with volunteers to raise charity funds, particularly the Community Engagement team to raise awareness of our work and bring in opportunities of donations/fundraising
  • Communicate with team members to plan events, campaigns, tube/mosque collections, treks/challenges and other fundraising projects supporting the organisation’s aims
  • Identify, write and submit applications for grants and bids in line with our projects and aims
  • Direct team members to securing funds where possible with their designated projects
  • Identify and secure opportunities for sponsorships or regular donations i.e. maintaining our Business Champions, Torchbearers, sponsorships in kind or event sponsorships
  • Carry out activities to help foster better relationships with donors and supporters
  • Write short reports on the outcomes of each project, highlighting improvements, how much was raised and lessons learnt. These are to be discussed with team members for the guidance of future events and campaigns
  • Identify areas for professional and service development for each campaigns team member
  • Attend and identify supervisions and training opportunities as and when required
  • Provide monthly or bi-monthly supervisions and check-ins to the events and campaigns team.

  • Prioritise work orders and organise tasks based on shop deadlines
  • Responsible for tracking, receiving, and stocking all shop items ordered in an appropriate manner
  • Carry out organisation and packaging of items specific to shop requirements

  • Manage the organisation’s blog working with the Communications team members
  • Be involved where necessary, in the creation of content and loading onto the WordPress content management system

  • Use a variety of tools, approaches, and work with others, to increase website traffic, inbound enquiries, and other online marketing presence
