About Alyaa:
Alyaa is a Canadian Egyptian artist. Her original artworks are a reflection of her identity as an Arab muslim, her upbringing and life experiences. She chose to collaborate with us to prioritise mental health.
“I was excited to collaborate with IM as mental health in the Muslim community is often disregarded and not prioritised. It is very important that we bring awareness to mental health and offer resources to help our struggling brothers and sisters. I wanted to contribute to this cause in the best way I can, which is through art.”
Her piece depicts the beautiful waves of the ocean crashing into each other as the sun rises on the horizon.
“I personally love being surrounded by nature. It helps with improving my mental health, and this is what inspired me to paint this piece. There is something serene about the beach, and when I look at similar art pieces it is almost like I can hear the waves crashing.
I specifically chose this verse because it brings me peace and helps calm me down. There is relief knowing that The One who created us is telling us to not lose hope nor be sad because He SWT will take care of our affairs, no matter how tough the situation might be.”
