The 10th of October 2015 was World Mental Health Day with the theme of Dignity in Mental Health. We tried to raise awareness of mental health problems by sharing facts on social media with family, friends and colleagues using the hashtags #IAmDignified and #InspiritedMinds and have also dedicated this months blog articles to the same theme, Dignity and Human + Normality = Sanity?.
Often we forget that when we fail to treat people with mental health problems with dignity, we make it incredibly difficult for them to take that crucial step to seek adequate help, which then manifests and progresses into low confidence, low self-esteem, withdrawal and social isolation.
The day was a huge success mashAllah, there were so many different kind of posts from factual, to real life experiences, to cute little boosts, and some with a little bit of light humour. We’ve picked out our favourite ones, and also asked some of you to pick yours and here they are. Enjoy!
Struggling. Suffering. Sadness. Distress. Difficulty. Despair. If you experience these, why does it make you any less?…
